Last year, through our dahlia sales, we donated $2,000 to the Frederick Rescue Mission and $3,000 to the National MS Society. Every year, we will select two new charities and donate 100% of proceeds to them.

About us & our dahlias

Devine Dahlias started in 2020 with a single flower so beautiful we were hooked immediately. A few potted tubers in the backyard quickly expanded into an acre

of over 150 dahlia varieties.

Aged compost, sand and peat moss proved to be the perfect amendments for the clay soil in Maryland. Overwhelmed with flowers to cut and motivated to share the beauty of dahlias with others, our local plant stand was born. During the summer months, flowers are cut from the garden daily, conditioned, and sold with all proceeds going to two local charities.

The flowers have connected us to so many wonderful neighbors who have incorporated dahlias in their weddings, anniversaries, baby showers, and celebrations of life. We have met teachers, nurses, students, new moms and dads who are as mesmerized as we are by the flowers that “just don’t look real”.

We get it.

Through the thoughtfulness of former strangers turned friends, we’ve witnessed dahlias spread a spirit of sincere kindness, love, compassion, and care throughout the community. We are excited to package that spirit in a shippable form through our online tuber sales. We look forward to sharing our tubers with you!

Tips for Success

Plant after the first frost, and after the ground soil warms up to 60*F. This often means we plant at the end of May.

We wake up our tubers in a warm, humid environment 4-6 weeks before planting. We plant horizontally with the eye/new sprout facing up.

We do not water at planting time. We begin watering only after the plant emerges from the ground and is a few inches tall.

Before planting, we amend our clay soil with peat moss, sand, and aged compost to help with water drainage. At the time of planting, we supplement with bone meal.

Our mission

The mission of Devine Dahlias is to sell individual tubers that will provide you with incredible blooms that you’ll want to share with others.

Our Guarantee

Dahlias grown in our garden have been procured from reputable dahlia growers across the United States. At the end of each growing season, we dig up the plants, store the tubers over the winter and hand-divide them carefully to ensure all tubers contain a crown, neck and body. We will only sell tubers that contain a viable eye from which the new plant will grow.

Please note that tubers range in size and shape naturally.
